OUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL WEDDING FAIR WITH LIVE WEDDING PAINTING AND A SURPRISE

Last weekend we attended our very first international wedding fair in Brussels, Belgium. Salon du Mariage is a a popular wedding expo among European wedding planners, vendors, etc. and even though the language barrier is something we were concerned about, we couldn’t let our insecurities deter us from what ended up being an extremely rewarding and insightful experience.

So after less than 2 months after our move to the Netherlands, here we were packing away for the wedding fair to show the people of Europe what live wedding painting is all about! We took a 2-hour bus ride to Brussels from Maastricht, so could only bring what we could carry ourselves and here is how our booth turned out:

We’re both extremely grateful for the warm welcome that the vendors and guests treated us with. Even though we don’t speak French, we were easily able to communicate with everyone in English (Europeans are so incredibly smart with languages!) and people seemed sincerely intrigued by our wedding paintings and what we had to offer. Here are some more shots from the weekend!

We look forward to continuing to promote our live wedding painting services at expositions like this more often. It’s also an excuse to travel and explore our new terrain! Ok, so now for the Audrey Hepburn surprise, I was telling you about… Our friend from Maastricht, Eva, let us stay at her spare condo in Brussels which was already such a kind gesture in and of itself. Little did we know that the apartment building is actually a huge tourist attraction as it is the birthplace of Audrey Hepburn! That means we could have stayed in the exact room she was born in. We couldn’t believe how cool of an experience this was. The building itself is only open to tenants so I snuck in a photo of the interior inside so you guys could see it for yourselves :)

There wasn’t a whole lot of information about this building online, other than the fact that Audrey Hepburn lived there with her family until she was 5. Still a pretty cool thing to have randomly encountered.

We can’t wait until our next wedding expo in November. Next stop… Prague!

Over and out,
