LIVE WEDDING PAINTING IN BELGIUM! OUR FIRST EVER LIVE PAINT DURING A PANDEMIC...

I jokingly wrote on my Instagram story that I never thought we’d be the first ever Americans to live paint a wedding in Belgium during a pandemic yet here we are!

Let’s rewind a bit.

Not gonna lie, when corona began to spread, everyone was going on lock down, and events were being cancelled in March, we kinda put a hold on Bloom & Bliss. Especially in light of everything going on in the States surrounding George Floyd and the BLM movement, we were sucked dry of anything involving being cheerful. It has been a hard season for everyone (no need to elaborate on that here) and we are still trying to navigate and pivot our business to continue to capture happy moments on canvas and encourage others to also do what they love with more love, in a changing world.

Fast forward to July:

We were absolutely elated to be invited to create a very special live wedding painting for Marie & Lars in Westerlo, Belgium. The restrictions there were quite heavy. Everyone had to wear a mask (even the bride and groom!) and what was supposed to be a large event with over 200 guests turned into a small intimate gathering of about 50 guests with no dancing allowed. Despite the huge adjustment in plans, it turned out to be one of the most beautiful events that we were honored to live paint. We felt like part of the family even though we don’t speak a lick of French, and most importantly, the bride and groom loved the finished result of their painting <3

It is surreal that just over a year ago we moved to the Netherlands all the way from Greenville, South Carolina not knowing what to expect and how us foreign live painter would be received. Live wedding painting is still a very new concept out here and it has been a bit harder to find clients who are aware of the magic that can unfold from a live event painting. So you can only imagine our excitement when we were invited to perform for this intimate gathering in Belgium, despite the limitations of a pandemic.

Sometimes all it takes is time and patience to really put your foot forward in times of uncertainty. We’ve got another live painting in a few weeks that we cannot wait to share more on :D

Check back soon!
